My little girly: I am SOOOOOO proud of you! You overcame so  many obstacles, you stayed strong when it was so easy to give up. You are incredible.. You. Are. Awesome.  I love you, more! xoxo

Now back to our regularly scheduled program...

A super surreal experience this week.  I am happy, relieved and disappointed all at once.  I knew from the beginning this was a working document I was creating and I may not have a completely finished product at the end. I met many roadblocks along the way.  While I’m still not at a final product officially, the vision/goals I set for the resource is well on its way. I am happy to have had the opportunity to begin this enormous task, relieved that I am able to work on the final pieces as fast as my coworkers can contribute, and disappointed that I don’t really have an official final product to display for this final blog entry. The most important takeaway here is that this resource will be a reality soon.

I have really enjoyed learning about the Inclusive Services approach to Adult Transitions and about the DSO and ODSP resources.  Ironically, during my genius hour time, two friends of mine reached out to see what I knew about this process due to my work in an alternative school environment.  I was super happy I could share my new-found knowledge with them to help transition their children to adulthood in the DSO environment.

I really learned a lot about the inner-workings of the system and how much information there is, yet isn’t clearly available to students unless they have a caring adult in their lives. I learned that the DASS grads that need this information also need help to navigate the next steps with a cheerleader they may not have in their corner. I learned that as a TC and future classroom educator, I have found an area of education/social work that I want to be a part of to help my students navigate.

What now?!?  A lot of meetings @ DASS to decide what is to be included in the next version of the resource and what is not.  Then a chat with our internal creative services department to help create a proper infographic and website that will support this genius hour project.  (I am NOT a graphic designer and have tried my best to capture the spirit of the transition resource!)

I am so very proud to be on this journey and will be even prouder to put my resource into the hands of my kiddos by graduation in June 2023.

Thanks for joining me. This is Awesome.

💖Jenny
